Eligibility Criteria in Detail

Educational Qualifications

Each post carries a specific minimum educational requirement. While Constable and Staff Car Driver roles require Matriculation and Primary level education respectively, the Assistant and Sub-Inspector posts demand a Bachelor's degree from an HEC-recognized university. Stenotypist candidates must additionally demonstrate professional speed in shorthand and typewriting.

Age Relaxation

General age limits across most posts are 18 to 25 years, with the Assistant post extending to 28 years and Staff Car Driver to 30 years. Age relaxation of up to 5 years applies per the Initial Appointment to Civil Posts (Relaxation of Upper Age Limits) Rules 1993. This includes the general age relaxation for all candidates.

Physical Requirements (Selected Posts)

For Sub-Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Constable, and Constable Driver posts, candidates must meet minimum physical standards:

  • Height (Men): 5 feet, 6 inches
  • Height (Women): 5 feet, 4 inches
  • Chest (Men only): 33 × 34½ inches
⚠ Physical & Endurance Test Required Candidates declared eligible for Sub-Inspector, ASI, Constable, and Constable Driver posts will undergo a Physical and Endurance Test: a 1.6 km (1 mile) run — to be completed in 7 minutes (men) or 10 minutes (women). Only those who pass this test advance to the Written/CBT Examination.

Provincial / Regional Quota Distribution

The FIA follows a strict regional quota system to ensure fair representation across all provinces and regions of Pakistan. Each post is allocated vacancies under the following categories:

  • Open Merit
  • Punjab
  • Sindh (Rural) and Sindh (Urban)
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK)
  • Balochistan
  • Ex-FATA
  • Gilgit-Baltistan (GB)
  • Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK)

Applicants should clearly note their domicile and apply under the appropriate quota. The FIA may post selected candidates anywhere in Pakistan regardless of their domicile.

Selection Process

The FIA follows a rigorous, multi-stage selection process designed to ensure only the most competent individuals join this elite institution:

1

Online Application Submission

Submit application at npftas.pk before 4th May 2026. Pay the processing fee (Rs. 200/- per post) via bank, ATM, Easy Paisa, or Jazz Cash using the 24-digit PSID generated from the portal.

NPF-TAS reviews applications against eligibility criteria. Candidates are informed of status through the portal or SMS/email.

3

Physical & Endurance Test

For physical posts (Constable, SI, ASI, Constable Driver): height, chest, and 1.6 km run assessment. Pass/fail determines advancement.

4

Written Examination / CBT

Computer-Based Test (CBT) or written exam testing relevant knowledge, aptitude, and skills. Candidates must produce Roll No. Slip and original CNIC/Passport.

5

Interview / Skill Test

Shortlisted candidates appear for interviews. Stenotypists and typing-related posts undergo additional skill assessment.

Expert Tips for FIA Job Aspirants

Thousands of applicants compete for every FIA vacancy. Here is how you can maximize your chances:

  • Apply Early: Don't wait until the last day. Portal traffic surges near the deadline and payment delays can disqualify you.
  • Double-Check Eligibility: Confirm your qualification, domicile province, and age carefully before applying for any post.
  • Start Physical Training Now: The 1.6 km endurance run eliminates a large portion of Constable and SI applicants. Begin cardio training immediately.
  • Prepare for CBT: Focus on general knowledge about Pakistan, current affairs, Islamic Studies, English grammar, and basic mathematics.
  • Verify Your Documents: Ensure all your certificates are attested, HEC-verified (if foreign), and up to date before the interview.
  • Stay Updated: Monitor npftas.pk and fia.gov.pk regularly for updates on test dates and admit cards.
