A Sindhi Woman

ایک سندھی عورت

Bare foot, through the bazaar,

ننگے پاؤں، بازار سے ہوتے ہوئے،

And with the same undulant grace

اور اسی انمول فضل کے ساتھ

As the cloth blown back from her face,

جیسے ہی اس کے چہرے سے کپڑا اڑ گیا،

She glides with a stone jar,

وہ پتھر کے برتن کے ساتھ لپکتی ہے،

High on her head

اس کے سر پر اونچا

And not a ripple in her tread.

اور اس کے چلنے میں ایک لہر نہیں.

Watching her cross erect

اسے کراس کھڑا دیکھ کر

Stones, garbage, excrement and crumbs

پتھر، کچرا، اخراج اور ٹکڑے

Of glass in the Karachi slums,

کراچی کی کچی آبادیوں میں شیشے کا

I, with my stoop, reflect:

میں، اپنے جھکاؤ کے ساتھ، عکاسی کرتا ہوں:

They stand most straight

وہ سب سے زیادہ سیدھے کھڑے ہیں۔

Who learn to walk beneath a weight.

جو وزن کے نیچے چلنا سیکھتے ہیں۔
